This is the story of how Abu Ad-Dahdaah (RA), on hearing the following verse of the Noble Quran, donated his valuable orchard for the sake of Allah.
'Who will grant a good loan to Allah, so that he may increase it many times. Allah gives and withholds and to Him is your return,' Surah al-Baqarah (245-246)
The orchard had six hundred date palms.
Abu Ad-Dahdaah (RA) said:
'O Messenger of Allah, Allah is asking for a loan, yet He has no need for a loan?'
Nabi (PBUH) replied: 'That is true, Abu Ad-Dahdaah, He only wants to admit you into Paradise by means of it.'
Abu Ad-Dahdaah (RA) called ouit, 'Give me your hand, O Messenger of Allah. 'Nabi (PBUH) gave him his noble hand.
Thereafter Abu Ad-Dahdaah (RA) said, 'I make you a witness, O Nabi of Allah, I have now given my orchard as a loan to Allah Ta'ala.'
He subsequently took his family out of the orchard because it no more belong to them.
